Data Exchange for Mine Software 3D Interoperability Report Published
The Data Access and Usage Working Group’s Data Exchange for Mine Software Sub-committee has published a report on 3D interoperability between mining software packages. The report details the challenges associated with manipulating and transferring 3D images and contains recommended next steps for developing an Open Mining Format (OMF), which would help solve challenges, reduce costs, and decrease time lost due to maintenance. The report provides recommendations from interviews with personnel from Teck, Barrick Gold, and Newmont. The sub-committee is currently working on V2.0 with plans for its release next year and V1.0 is now available on GitHub.
