GMG Edmonton Forum Speakers Mansoor Hussain

Mansoor J Hussain, Project Manager – Autonomous Haul Systems, Imperial

Mansoor Hussain has been with Imperial Oil for 10 years in various roles within Upstream Projects on conventional, in-situ, and mining assets. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Windsor and an MBA from the University of Calgary. In his current role as Autonomous Haulage Systems Project Manager, he is working on deploying autonomous truck technology at Imperial’s Kearl Oil Sands Mine.

GMG Leadership Summit Speaker Glenn Kirkhoff

Glenn Kerkhoff, Head Worldwide Business Development, Mining, AWS

Glenn Kerkhoff heads up the Mining Industry group for Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the role of Head of Worldwide Business Development, Mining. Glenn comes from Newcastle, Australia, and has also lived in Indonesia, Chile, Canada and the United States. He is currently based in Denver, Colorado. Glenn holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of NSW, and has spent his entire professional life involved in the global mining industry. Glenn’s experience includes mining engineering, mine operations, mineral processing, maintenance, commodities marketing, mining economics and 20+ years’ experience with mining technology solutions. He started his career with major Australian miner BHP, and then worked in the explosives industry with Dyno Nobel. Glenn then joined Mincom (now ABB), working in Geology and Mine Planning, mining ERP, and real-time Fleet Management Systems. In 2001, Glenn joined Caterpillar as Commercial Manager, Mining Technology, responsible for business development and account management for Caterpillar’s MineStar Fleet Management Systems and Machine Control and Guidance Systems. He continued his career with several other mining technology companies including Datamine, RPM Global (formerly Runge) and Trimble, before returning to Caterpillar in 2016 to head-up the Mining Productivity Solutions business, focusing on advanced productivity solutions, autonomous haulage assessments, data connectivity and predictive analytics for machine reliability and maintenance. Glenn moved to Amazon AWS in 2019 to head up business development for the mining and resources sector.

Marcelo Romero, Business Development Director – Operation, Hexagon Mining

Marcelo plans and oversees technical and commercial strategies for Hexagon’s MineOperate Portfolio. He supports regional units to ensure that customers get the most from our open pit and underground solutions for fleet management (FMS), machine guidance, and machine health.

With more than 20 years’ FMS experience, Marcelo was previously Hexagon’s senior product portfolio manager for safety and operations. Prior to joining Hexagon, he was also an account manager for Mexico and the United States, a machine guidance specialist, a global technical expert engineer for health maintenance solutions in the U.S., and a deployment and support engineer in Chile.

Working closely with customers to solve their problems, Marcelo’s goal is to help create a life-of-mine FMS solution, incorporating shovels, trucks, auxiliary equipment, and office applications.

Marcelo has an Electronics Engineering degree with a major in automation from Federico Santa Maria Technical University in Chile.

GMG Edmonton Forum Speaker Zoltan Lukacs

Zoltan Lukacs, Advisor – Asset Optimization and Operational Readiness

Zoli is a Mining Engineer and asset management advisor. In previous positions Zoli was responsible for operational excellence and reliability management at a major copper mine; Director of Reliability, responsible for developing and implementing a maintenance planning and reliability strategy for a mining fleet of over 200 units; and Operations Manager as well as Director of Maintenance Planning and Technology for a major mining contractor. He has held consulting positions as Manager, Mining Services and Managing Consultant, and Global Maintenance Practice at leading mining consulting firms. His experience is based on a strong operational background gained over 25 years at leading mine operations where he’s been involved in mine operations planning, performance and cost analysis, marketing and logistics support, and maintenance management. Throughout his career, a major focus has been operational improvement enabled by systems and technology. He has participated in development of technology strategy and several systems design and implementation projects. Zoli is a strong advocate of knowledge and best practices exchanges through involvement in CIM, SMART and GMG.
