GMG Workshop: Applications of AI in Mining | Denver | Feb 27

Many mining stakeholders have implemented various AI applications and experimented with different approaches—some have seen success while others have been disappointed. Applications of AI in Mining Project aims to leverage lessons learned and case study examples from these efforts to develop a guideline for applying AI.

Those with an interest in and experience with AI and digital transformation in mining are encouraged to register for this workshop. The guideline aims to tackle main challenges during AI adoption and define common practices proven to work for AI in mining.

Objectives

  • Drive the development of the Applications of AI in Mining Project towards a guideline
  • Leverage material and outcomes from Melbourne and Montreal workshop to build the content, ideate and discuss topics, and establish validation from stakeholders
  • Capture lessons learned, case studies, open-research, workshops and experience from stakeholders on AI adoption to include in guideline
  • Enable knowledge and professional development in AI to those participating in workshop

Topics to discuss

  • Business Case. Defining a decision-making process, implications of AI, regulations and more
  • Setting the approach, business model and structure, project management, KPIs, etc.
  • Change Management and Human Factors. Defining the journey and resources needed, key-stakeholders involvement, adoption cycle for workforce, training plan and more.
  • Understanding the bias and potential implications of AI.
  • Data Considerations. Identifying a data model, setting data reconciliation, leveraging data analytics methodologies, Intellectual Property and more.
  • Business Operations. Risk management, safeguards considerations and decision-making.
  • Defining an acceptance criterion, testing framework, infrastructure, cybersecurity, scalability and more.
