GMG Forum: JohannesburgRegister Now »
Apr 2 - Apr 3
We will hold our GMG Johannesburg Forum in partnership with SAIMM April 2-3. Southern Africa’s rich geology and history have established it as one of the world’s top mining regions. This region has a considerable stake in the future of mining.
While the region has some of the world’s largest reserves of platinum, diamonds, vanadium, gold, chrome and several other minerals, developing the infrastructure to harness these resources is a challenge. A strong game plan for the future of mining is necessary. To this end, key topics of this forum will be digitization, technological innovation, underground innovation and safety. Participants will also have the opportunity to collaborate in interactive workshops on AI in Mining and Autonomous Mining.

The Wits Club
Located near the gold-rich Witwatersrand ridge and born out of the gold industry, Johannesburg – known in the Zulu language as Egoli, “place of gold” – is an especially apt location for the forum. The gold mines near Johannesburg, such as AngloGold Ashanti’s TauTona mine, are some of the deepest in the world.
