GMG Forum: Santiago
Jul 10 - Jul 11
GMG will host a Future Mining Forum in July in Chile’s capital city, Santiago. Chile is the world’s top producer of several commodities, most notably copper, and mining makes up approximately 10% of its GDP. Several mining companies have offices in Santiago, including CODELCO (Chile’s state-owned copper company and the largest copper producer in the world), BHP Minerals Americas and Anglo American Chile.
Productivity will be a central topic at this forum. Chile’s mining industry has great potential for growth: there are more than 100 new projects underway that are estimated to create more than 60 000 new jobs.* Long-term growth, however, is only possible if technological advancements facilitate it. As a result, the Chilean mining industry is incredibly invested in technology, and interoperability, autonomous mining and artificial intelligence, which have the potential to increase productivity, are essential topics for this forum.
Stay tuned to this page as program details are confirmed.
