Webinar | Emissions From Surface-operated Mining Assets: The Power of Simulation

Published: March 25,2025

2030 is tomorrow! Most mining companies with surface-operated assets are committed to a 30% emissions reduction from the 2019 baseline. Outside of Battery Electric Haul Trucks (BEHT), what solutions are available and may provide a transition to reach that defined goal?

Some OEMs are now building new engines or hybrid retrofit kits, or even new trucks capable of supporting a transition within the transition.

Biofuels or renewable fuels, ethanol blends, or hybrid systems (internal combustion engine + battery) could be a solution to achieve the 2030 reductions in some of the main surface-operated mining locations. Combined technologies (internal combustion engine + battery or ethanol blend) are also being considered to ease the adoption of emissions reduction technologies. This opens up a transition within the overall technological transition, minimizing future infrastructure investments and operational changes.

Guest Speakers

  • Cedric Laney, Principal Mining Engineer, Vale
  • Mark Sawyer, Vice President Mining, Stream Systems
  • Michel Serres, Senior Vice President of Corporate, Stream Systems

Join us to understand the simulation of new technologies on an operating mine or greenfield site, integrating operational behaviours, multi-agent systems, TRL (Technology Readiness Level), commercialization and cost sensitivity to drive decision-making.
