Electronic Engineer with 20 years of experience implementing different technologies solutions related to OT/IT convergence, MES Systems, Mine-Plant Integration, Integrated Operations Centers, so as also, supporting mining companies with different assessments in order to improve their integration capabilities between the operation and the business. 

Alvaro Sarmiento, Manager – Digital Transformation | Enaex

Alvaro Sarmiento is Digital Transformation Manager at Enaex, a unit responsible for optimizing and ensuring excellence in blasting operations through digitization and advanced analytical tools. He is a Mechanical Civil Engineer and holds a Master’s degree from the Federico Santa Maria University, with more than 10 years of experience working in operational areas in Continuous Improvement processes and transformation projects. Today, he plays a strategic role in the development of digital products that seek to transform the processes of design, execution and control of blasting, favorably impacting the performance in the mining value chain.

Cristian Olivares, Superintendent PEM Esperanza Sur Autonomia | Minera Centinela – Antofagasta Minerals (AMSA)

Cristian Andrés Olivares Tscherebilo, currently working as Technology Superintendent at Minera Centinela, is a Civil Mining Engineer from the University of Chile with a Master in Mine Management at the University of New South Wales in Australia. His career has been developed within the mining industry, always connected directly or indirectly with innovation and technological implementations in operational contexts. The last 2 major projects were the implementation of autonomous trucks and drills in the Esperanza Sur pit of Minera Centinela and the operation of these systems in the Integrated Operations Management building in Antofagasta.

Gonzalo Cid, Former General Manager, Technological Foundation for Mining, SONAMI Foundation

Gonzalo Cid is a Commercial Engineer with a degree in Economics from Universidad de Concepción, with postgraduate studies in Economics, ILADES – Georgetown University. He is a specialist in management and facilitation of technological projects, sustainability management, regulatory affairs and communications.

Gonzalo has experience in the mining industry, technological services and applied research, engineering and construction, international trade and foreign investment. He has held executive positions in the National Mining Society, BHP – Minera Escondida, U. Católica del Norte, Santiago Chamber of Commerce, ZOFRI S.A., Fluor Daniel Chile, Foreign Investment Committee, and ProChile.

He has recently been a member of the Executive Committee of the ASDIT – Alta Ley Consortium for the Institute of Clean Technologies, the Business Council of Fraunhofer Chile Research, the Executive Committee of the Technological Approach Seminars, and the COSOC of the National Institute of Industrial Property.

Gonzalo Ramirez Troxler, Process Decarbonization Director | Codelco

Mechanical Civil Engineer, with 10+ years of experience in technological innovation associated with Codelco processes. For the last 5 years he has been focused on developing and implementing solutions to displace greenhouse gas emissions in different operations. He currently serves as Corporate Director of Process Decarbonization.

Laura Mottola, Partner – Vice-President, Advisory Services | BBA Consultants

A seasoned professional mining engineer and business executive with over 30 years of global experience across mining and manufacturing industries, Laura is recognized globally as a leader in operational excellence, innovation, and business transformation in the natural resource sector. In addition to her dedication to Lean thinking and practice, she is passionate about integrating systems thinking, circular economy, and other concepts to develop collaborative approaches to solving complex industry problems.

Laura, a member of the Lean Enterprise Institute’s faculty, regularly teaches Lean Strategy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri) to global industry organizations and executive teams. She founded Flow Partners, a boutique consulting firm with operations in Canada and Chile which is now part of the BBA Group, a Canadian engineering consulting company that specializes in the mining and metals and energy sectors. Laura is Vice-President of Advisory Services at BBA, a partner and part of the management team of the firm.

Notably, Laura was named in the inaugural edition of the 100 most inspirational women in mining by Women in Mining UK . She holds a B.Eng. in Mining and a Master of Engineering in Mining Automation from McGill University.

Marco Ruiz, Robotics Director | Enaex

Marco Ruiz is Manager of Enaex Robotics, business unit in charge of the development of robotics for blasting operations. He is a Mechanical Civil Engineer from the University of Chile, with 15 years of experience in engineering project management, technological development and innovation. Today, he plays an important role in the development of products and technological services for remote control and automation of the blasting process in mining, through the integration of technologies and collaboration with various national and international technological institutions.

Mario Ortiz, Manager, Integrated Operations | Teck

Operations leader with over 16 years of experience and a deep understanding of the mining value chain, including international assignments, results orientation and strategic vision.

Strong Integrated Operations experience demonstrated in the last two recent large scale copper project implementations, both greenfield and brownfield, including remote operation deployments of the entire production value chain from mine to port and a transformation to a new way of mining.

As Integrated Operations Manager at Teck QB, Mario is responsible for delivering near-term forecasts and schedules and optimizing asset performance through remote operation, monitoring and analysis of production activities.

Marlene Sanchez, Head of Mining Development and Promotion Division | Ministry of Mining of Chile

Marlene Sánchez Tapia , Eng. Commercial, Mgtr in Management and Mining Business, from the Universidad Católica del Norte, has worked in the public sector for 22 years, developing and implementing public policy mainly in northern Chile in charge of the Technical Cooperation Service, CORFO, the Committee for Productive Development of the Antofagasta Region, as well as working in matters of innovation and technology transfer directing the UCN Scientific and Technological Park Foundation.

Her career has allowed her to chair the Antofagasta Mining Cluster for four years until its transition to the Corporation that exists today, to set up working instances with different municipalities and local governments around the national mining development, as well as to develop national and international collaboration networks for the promotion of sustainable mining. She currently serves as Head of the Mining Development Division of the Undersecretary of Mining of the Chilean Ministry of Mining.

Rodrigo Aguilera, Regional Director Digital – South America | Hatch

Industrial Civil Engineer in Electronics, Master in Business Administration, with studies in Digital Transformation and Machine Learning at MIT, with more than 25 years of experience in Innovation and Technology applied in mining processes, project management from the identification of solutions, analysis of technical and economic feasibility, and implementation.

Ricardo is currently Regional Director of the Digital practice for Hatch in South America. Previously, he has been Manager and Director of important mining technology companies. He was Technology Innovation Manager for Barrick Gold Corporation, where he was responsible for defining the innovation and technological development strategy for Barrick’s mining operations in Latin America and for leading digital transformation initiatives for mining processes.

He is co-representative for Latin America of Global Mining Guideline Group

Rodrigo Aguayo, Go to Market Manager | Hatch

Highly motivated professional with proven leadership and management skills at business and project team level. Ability to build teams towards a defined objective. Able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and present products in a structured and professional face-to-face manner with customers in different lines of business: Mining, Defense, Utilities, Transmission, Distribution and Generation.

More than 22 years in the Technology and Digital Transformation industry. Worked as Business Development Manager, Project Manager and Consulting Manager for almost 10 years.

Rodrigo Subiabre, VP Innovation and Technology | Anglo American

Rodrigo Subiabre has more than 25 years of experience in the mining of Copper, Nickel, Iron, Niobium, Platinum and diamonds, from geology, mining extraction, processing, smelting to marketing. He has experience leading Operations, Projects, research and development in countries such as Australia, South Africa and Chile. The latest roles have been vice president of Optimization and Strategy, vice president of Joint Ventures, vice president of Projects, Technology and Innovation and Corporate Director representing Anglo American shares.

Rodrigo is a Chemical Civil Engineer, Master in Finance, Certificate Director and Diploma in sustainability and social development.
