Mining’s Future in Focus: Insights from GMG’s Stockholm Forum
Published: May 07,2025
In April, GMG’s Stockholm Forum convened global mining professionals, technology suppliers, researchers, and innovators for a multi-day collaborative event. The forum fostered dialogue around digital transformation, AI integration, decarbonization, and system interoperability, all within the unique landscape of Swedish mining culture and global industry shifts.
It also affirmed that mining’s future lies in connected, collaborative, and transparent innovation. From underground LTE deployment to open autonomy, participants demonstrated a collective commitment to shaping a more agile, intelligent, and sustainable mining sector.
Main messages:
Mining’s digital transformation requires cross-functional, cross-company collaboration.
Technology must be human-centered: designed for trust, clarity, and day-to-day use.
Innovation must be balanced with practicality and readiness at the mine site.
Shared language, shared infrastructure, and shared purpose will enable industry-wide progress.
