In-Person Workshop | Zero Entry Mining: Workshop on Mining Methods & Processes
Published: June 27,2025This is one of four separate and interactive workshops GMG is hosting in Brisbane, designed to complement the events at the Brisbane Forum (July 16-17). These sessions allow dedicated time outside of the Forum program to dive deeper into key industry challenges and contribute to GMG’s ongoing project work. While closely aligned with the Forum, the workshops are separately organized and require separate registration.
Zero Entry Mining is a bold vision: mining without people in the mine. While eliminating human exposure to risk is central, the impact goes far beyond health and safety. Zero entry approaches open the door to greater productivity, lower capital intensity, lower operating costs, access to new orebodies, and more sustainable, efficient mining systems — on surface, underground, and in processing.
This interactive workshop will kick off two new GMG discussion papers focused on the methods and processes that could make zero entry mining possible.
Participants will explore:
- Mining methods and approaches no longer limited by the need for human access
- Integrated processes — from planning to extraction — aligned with a zero-entry mindset
- The role of automation, remote systems, in-situ recovery, and cross-sector innovations
- Barriers and risks, and where bold breakthroughs are most needed
Your voice matters. Insights and contributions from this session will directly shape the content of the papers and advance industry understanding of what a zero-entry future could look like.
Ideal for mining professionals, technology developers, and forward-thinking leaders focused on safety, innovation, and systems transformation.
Coffee and tea provided.
