Are you an exceptional communicator who takes pride in conceptualizing and producing compelling pieces? Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) is searching for a Communications and Engagement Coordinator to engage with the members and steering committees of our working groups and projects. The Communications and Engagement Coordinator will complete duties accurately and deliver with high quality and in a timely manner. The role requires previous experience working in communications, as well as successfully using social media platforms to engage a community.

We are hiring for a full-time contract at 35 h/wk

Job specifics

The person will:

  • build and maintain collaborative relationships with volunteers, members, subject matter experts and relevant external organizations
  • develop and manage a volunteer/member engagement strategy, in collaboration with GMG staff
  • develop a process to share information from the working groups/projects to the greater community and bring information back to the working groups/projects
  • plan, edit and write content for tools, guides, media releases, website, eblasts, invitations, etc. to enable the members
  • use communications channels (social media, website, etc.) to promote the work being done by the working groups and projects and to nurture that community
  • maintain and update the working groups and project pages on the GMG website
  • report working groups and projects’ activity
  • ensure communications to/from the working groups and projects are on brand and consistent across all mediums

Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing communications strategies
  • Demonstrated experience building member engagement strategies
  • Experience using current social media/communication technology platforms and their application
  • Ability to adapt writing to a variety of audiences and platforms
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading skills
  • Build a knowledge base about the mining industry
  • Effective at working independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in MS Office
