GMG Welcomes Aurecon as a New Leadership Member
The Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) is proud to announce that international engineering, design and advisory consulting company Aurecon has become a new leadership member and has joined the GMG’s leadership council.
GMG leadership members are at the forefront of mining innovation today. GMG’s progressive international leadership council directs priority initiatives in order to build safe, innovative and sustainable mines of the future. Their vision focuses the efforts of more than a dozen leading-edge GMG project working groups and steering committees with, by, and for the mining sector.
“Aurecon’s commitment to the mining sector is strengthened through their new leadership council position, which will increase their contribution to digital transformation and evolving energy initiatives,“ says Michelle Ash, GMG Chair and CEO of Dassault Systèmes Geovia Division. “This action reflects Aurecon’s ongoing engagement with the mining industry and their continued efforts to support the sector’s growth. We believe that Aurecon’s involvement in GMG will drive an increased awareness and advancement of sustainable solutions.”
Aurecon is a management-owned company that was named Australasia’s Most Innovative Company for 2020. Earlier this year, their breakthrough Project Gilghi, which will provide safe drinking water to remote communities via modular, off-grid water treatment plants, earned them a 2020 global engineering award through the Institution of Civil Engineers. Aurecon maintains a strong international presence with businesses across the Asia Pacific region.
“Industry collaboration is important for the future of mining, and we feel an obligation to share our expertise to help improve the mining industry that will in turn support us,” says Aurecon Industry Director, Resources Anthony Richardson. “We recognize the importance of embracing a culture of knowledge sharing and experience in order to maintain a strong, resilient and sustainable mining industry, because it is a catalyst for bringing together new ways of thinking, including embracing data innovation.”
Richardson adds: “In particular, creating sustainable business, community and development opportunities in the transition to a low carbon future are among the top priorities for innovation in mining today. Successful development and deployment of technology into operations will be the key to managing risks through this transition.”
Current economic and disruption-response trends indicate an increasing focus on the importance of design as a way of making decisions around investing, commoditization, differentiating, and the creation of incentives. With our economy becoming more digitized at an accelerated pace, Aurecon’s expertise will help move the global mining community with GMG toward business-critical imperatives and digital transformation in the shift to zero emissions.
