15 Aug Preview from upcoming guideline: visualizing the functional safety lifecycle for autonomous systems
The Functional Safety for Autonomous Equipment subcommittee has recently finished development work on the draft Guideline for Applying Functional Safety to Autonomous Systems. It is now in editing. The document will provide a consistent framework for managing functional safety. The guideline will also facilitate industry alignment on the expectations and requirements related to functional safety while working toward consistency and compatibility in terms of the certification for systems and applications related to the field.
Understanding the functional safety lifecycle for autonomous systems is a key component of this guideline. The guideline approaches the functional safety lifecycle by exploring the relevant interdependencies and responsibilities surrounding the product and application lifecycles. The visual below will be used in the guideline to summarize these relationships.
Before publication, the guideline will pass through reviews by the project group and working group.
