Surface Mining Equipment Owner/Operator Group (SMEOG) Meeting

 

Who should attend:  

If you are a Front-line leader, Tradesperson, Equipment operator, Inspector, Reliability person then the SMEOG group is for you.  

During this meeting we will discuss and present topics on industry best practices in the areas of Equipment Maintenance/Reliability, Operations and Safety.  

This venue will also provide relationship building and collaboration opportunities for peers across the surface mining industry.

Mine tour – Syncrude’s Aurora Mine (Tour full – Registration closed)

In Conjunction with GMG Edmonton Forum 

The Syncrude Aurora North mine, commonly referred to as Aurora, is an open-pit mining operation extracting bitumen in the Athabasca Oil Sands.  The mine is located 80km north of Fort McMurray in northeastern Alberta and produces approximately 200,000 bbls/day of bitumen from 300,000 tonnes/day of oil sand, and moves an additional 350,000 tonnes/day of waste materials.  The Aurora truck and shovel mining operation consists of a mixed fleet of ultra-class cable shovels and a Caterpillar 797 truck fleet which includes the original 1997 Field Development Program trucks.
