Sweden set for electrification talks!

Mine electrification to be discussed at GMG Luleå Forum and The Electric Mine 2020

As GMG’s The Electric Mine Working Group starts to shape its strategy, many of its members will be taking part in two major events in Sweden next month.

The Electric Mine 2020

First up on the agenda is The Electric Mine 2020, the world’s only global event to focus solely on the theme of mine electrification. Taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, on March 19-20, the conference has a fantastic lineup of speakers, including GMG Managing Director, Heather Ednie, who will speak about collaboration on the electric mine of the future on day one.

Other GMG members due to take to the conference stage include Caterpillar, Epiroc, Vale, Boliden, GE Transportation, a Wabtec Company, ABB, Miller Technology, Sandvik, Siemens and SRK Consulting. GMG will also have an exhibition stand at the event for anyone that wants to find out more about how the latest The Electric Mine WG virtual meeting went (more news on that soon!).

As a Supporting Association of The Electric Mine 2020, GMG is pleased to be able to offer an exclusive 15% discount for all members. Simply follow this link to the registration page and enter EMGMG in the discount code box to take advantage of this reduced rate.

GMG Luleå Forum

What does building an environmentally sustainable future look like for our industry? Speakers, panellists and participants at the GMG Luleå Forum on March 24-25 will all have an opportunity to offer insights. The GMG Forum Series will hit up 9 cities around the world this year.

During the forum, Stefan Savonen, Senior VP Energy & Climate at LKAB will speak on Positioning for carbon neutral iron and steel production in Europe; Jenny Greberg, Program Director and Lawrence Hooey, Technology and Innovation Manager at SIP STRIM are talking on Mining innovation for a sustainable future; Katie Hulmes, General Manager Transformation and Readiness at OZ Minerals on Value Creation – The centre of transformation the OZWay.

There will be an interactive session on Defining the “Green” Collaboration Strategy and a panel on How innovative technologies are helping the industry go green.
