Time Usage Model for Underground Mining Workshop

Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) is holding 2 workshops for a small group of mining companies on Time Usage for Underground Mining. These workshops are to review the previously published Standardized Time Classification Framework for Mobile Equipment in Surface Mining Guideline and work on the classifications for underground mining by defining and determining the initial considerations to move the underground mining version of the guideline forward. Learn more about the project here.

During these 2-hour workshops, we will review the surface mining guideline and use a preliminary draft of the underground guideline to have an open discussion to focus on some of the potential considerations to move the underground project forward.

Purpose of the Workshop

To review the previous surface mining guideline and review and determine the initial content required to move the Time Usage Model for Underground Mining Guideline forward.

About the guideline

In 2020, GMG published A Standardized Time Classification Framework for Mobile Equipment in Surface Mining: Operational Definitions, Time Usage Model, and Key Performance Indicators that was specific to surface mining.

The contents of that guideline were reviewed by the industry, and it was determined that it would be valuable to develop a similar guideline specific to underground mining. This project will leverage the 2020 guideline and apply it specifically to underground mining.
