In last week’s Functional Safety for Autonomous Equipment workshop in Santiago, Chile, small groups came up with ideas for visualizing where functional safety fits within broader processes. These draft visuals show two very different aspects of functional safety and the broader project group will review and update them as needed for potential inclusion in the forthcoming guideline.
This pyramid-style visual shows how functional safety fits into overall mine management. The triangle on the left side reflects how the amount of work required to maintain continuous improvement increases as you get lower on the pyramid.
This one visualizes how vendors, culture, plans, technology, integrations and standards are all pillars supporting functional safety and how they all fit inside a regulatory framework.
