Workshop | Common Data Reporting in Geometallurgy

Published: January 21,2025

A fundamental principle of geometallurgy is to test a large number of samples and to relate metallurgical response to ore properties. The large number of samples and tests typically results in large datasets that contain valuable data.

The objective of the Guideline for Common Data Reporting in Geometallurgy project is to develop data reporting guidelines, including user guides for common geometallurgical and mineralogical tests, as a key enabler for efficient consumption of data. The guidelines are intended to include terminology, representation, suggested format, definition, structuring, and tagging. The expectation is to develop reporting guidelines to cover the most common comminution, flotation, leaching, mineralogy, and hyperspectral analysis forms of data.

At our January workshop, Stewart Brand, project lead, discussed this vision, presented the proposed table of contents, and walked participants through an example of breaking a test into its individual components.

Participants then broke into four groups and began tackling four types of tests:

  • Common data fields and units
  • Comminution
  • Flotation
  • Leaching

At this workshop, we’ll share that work. We still need people on these teams! This is your chance to get hands-on, working collaboratively in small groups and directly shaping the guideline’s development.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, collaborate, and make a meaningful impact.
